In battery electric vehicle (BEV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications, battery modules must be safe, lightweight and compact. Using conventional aluminium as a heat sink makes the battery module heavier and bulkier. Graphite directly replaces the function of aluminium by cooling the battery during normal charging/discharging operations and preventing propagation in case of battery failure.
